Capté is an online video content creation tool, 100% made in France, founded in 2020 by Emmanuel Geoffrey and Gabriel Delattre at Soixante Circuits, a Paris-based digital lab. It is accessible directly from a browser, with no installation required, and is primarily aimed at content creators, solopreneurs, agencies, training organizations, and online media outlets that want to produce videos with subtitles, translations, and social media optimization—without needing any technical editing skills.
Capté offers four monthly subscription plans with no commitment. A discount is applied to annual billing. Each plan includes a 3-day free trial, with no credit card required upfront. The number of videos you can subtitle is unlimited on all plans; only the maximum video length and the size of the imported file vary.
| Plan | Monthly fee | Maximum length per video | Included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | €7/month (or €5/month with an annual subscription) | 10 min | Automatic subtitling, Full HD export, files up to 200 MB, no translation or support |

1️⃣ If you are a freelancer or consultant:
For entrepreneur regularly post content on social media and are looking for something simple and reliable, Submagic is a direct alternative to Capté that also specializes in automated captioning with dynamic animations. The interface is geared toward short-form formats like TikTok and Reels, with an emphasis on visual effects. Clideo, on the other hand, offers a lighter, more versatile solution for basic online subtitling, with no mandatory subscription required for occasional use—which may suit someone who doesn’t post videos on a regular basis.
2️⃣ If you are a startup:
Descript is the most powerful option in this category for teams looking to go beyond subtitling. It allows you to edit a video like a text document, deleting or rearranging segments simply by modifying the transcript. It’s a significantly more comprehensive tool than Capté when it comes to editing, but it takes longer to get the hang of. Opus Clip is another emerging leader in the automatic generation of clips from long videos: its AI is particularly renowned for the quality of its clip selection, which directly addresses one of Capté’s current limitations in this specific area.
3️⃣ If you are a small business or an SME:
For teams with a significant volume of video production, Kamua enables the automatic cropping and subtitling of large numbers of videos for various formats and social media platforms simultaneously, using a batch-processing approach. Happy Scribe targets a slightly different segment: high-precision transcription and subtitling for demanding content such as podcasts, online training courses, or institutional content, with an option for human review available. For an SME producing training courses or webinars to be distributed in multiple languages, the combination of automatic transcription and human proofreading offered by Happy Scribe provides a higher level of reliability than what 100% AI tools can guarantee today.
