✅ Deal information:
Internxt is a sovereign, open-source cloud suite designed to offer a European alternative to storage giants like Google Drive and Dropbox, placing privacy and security at the heart of every feature. The platform relies on zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption combining AES-256 and Kyber-512 post-quantum cryptography, which means that files are encrypted directly on the user’s device before being sent, and that Internxt itself has no technical ability to read the stored data. Independently audited by the European firm Securitum in 2024, ISO 27001:2022 certified, and fully GDPR compliant, Internxt stands out as the only cloud storage solution to integrate a post-quantum cryptographic layer as standard across all its plans.
Beyond storage, Internxt offers a comprehensive digital suite that includes Internxt Drive (storage and synchronization), Send (secure file transfer), Meet (private video conferencing), Mail (encrypted email), VPN, Antivirus, and a Cleaner tool to protect every aspect of its users’ digital lives. The platform is available via a free 1 GB plan, annual subscriptions starting at €9.99/month, and lifetime plans lifetime a one-time payment-an option particularly popular with users who want to permanently break free from recurring subscriptions. All of this is available on the web, iOS, Android, and desktop, with the source code fully published on GitHub and verifiable by anyone.
Internxt is, above all, about control. With Internxt, you can rest easy knowing that your data is encrypted and protected, and that your digital life belongs to you.

Next-generation encryption for ultimate protection:
We protect the security and privacy of your files using advanced encryption to guard against emerging threats.
Internxt is a suite of cloud services developed in Spain, whose positioning is based entirely on a principle: your files belong to you, and you alone. Unlike Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, the platform is built on a zero-knowledge zero-knowledge: this means in practical terms that Internxt cannot technically access your data, whatever the circumstances. No content is read for advertising, no server-side file analysis on the server side. This promise is not merely presented as a : the source code is fully open source, available on GitHub, and auditable by anyone who wishing to verify that the service actually actually does.
The core product is Internxt Drive, the encrypted cloud storage service. Files are encrypted locally on the device before they are even sent to the servers, using double encryption: AES-256 to protect data at rest and in transit, combined with the post-quantum Kyber-512 encryption, a cryptographic layer designed to withstand future quantum computers capable of breaking current algorithms. It is currently one of the few consumer services to include this level of protection by default, with no additional paid option. Data is also fragmented before storage: no server ever holds an entire file, only encrypted fragments.
The suite has expanded considerably over the past two years. In addition to Drive, Internxt now offers Internxt Send for secure file sharing via expiring links, Internxt Antivirus to scan files for malware and ransomware, Internxt VPN for private browsing (with servers in France, Germany, Poland, Canada and the UK depending on the plan), Internxt Cleaner to clean up unnecessary files on devices, and Internxt Meet for encrypted video conferencing. An email service, Internxt Mail, has been announced and is gradually being rolled out. This convergence makes Internxt no longer just a Dropbox competitor, but an integrated digital privacy suite.
In terms of practical features, the service offers multi-device sync, automatic file backup, password-protected folder sharing, file version management, as well as WebDAV, CLI and Rclone support for technical users. NAS compatibility is also provided, which appeals to users who manage their own local storage infrastructure and want to add an encrypted cloud layer. The apps cover Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, as well as a web interface.
For businesses, Internxt for Business offers team management, flexible per-user storage allocation, control of remote sessions with access logging (IP, location, OS, last activity) and secure sharing between departments. An S3-compatible object storage offering, Internxt S3, is available for developers and technical teams who want to integrate encrypted storage directly into their applications or data pipelines, at an advertised cost up to 90% lower than AWS, Azure or Google Cloud in this segment.
The certifications are a strong differentiator for regulated industries: GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2. An independent security audit conducted in 2025 by Securitum, a Polish firm specializing in penetration testing, covered the web, desktop and mobile applications without finding any critical vulnerability.
Internxt offers two distinct subscription options: annual plans with automatic renewal, and lifetime plans lifetime a one-time payment and permanent access. There is no monthly subscription. A free plan offering 1 GB of encrypted storage is available without a credit card. All paid plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee.

1️⃣ If you are a freelancer or consultant:
For a freelancer, choosing a cloud storage service often comes down to three criteria: the privacy of client files, long-term cost, and ease of access from multiple devices. Internxt meets all three of these criteria, but two alternatives are worth considering depending on your needs. Proton Drive is the most directly comparable alternative to Internxt in terms of privacy. Developed by the same team behind Proton Mail, the service also relies on zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption, with servers based in Switzerland and a legal framework widely regarded as one of the most protective in Europe for personal data. For a consultant already using the Proton ecosystem (email, VPN, calendar), the integration is natural and seamless. The pricing is slightly higher than Internxt’s for large volumes, but the product’s maturity and the robustness of the ecosystem are compelling factors. Internxt does not yet offer lifetime plans for teams. Notion is not a direct competitor for raw storage, but for freelancers who organize their documentation, project notes, and client deliverables in a centralized space, the combination of the two tools is quite common. Internxt for sensitive files and Notion for the knowledge base and project tracking form a lightweight and inexpensive stack for a freelancer who values organization.
2️⃣ If you are a startup:
Startups rarely prioritize file confidentiality in their early stages, but teams that handle customer data, financial information, or data subject to compliance requirements (GDPR, HIPAA) may need cloud storage that meets these criteria from the outset. Proton Drive emerges here as a relevant alternative, particularly because Proton’s Business plan covers email, VPN, calendar, and cloud storage in a cohesive package. For a startup with a distributed team or one that works with partners sensitive to data privacy, having a single provider for all secure communication simplifies management and strengthens compliance posture. Box is an option worth considering for startups that need more advanced collaboration features than what Internxt currently offers. File sharing with external parties, document approval workflows, native integrations with Salesforce, Slack, or Microsoft and Google suites: Box is designed for teams that work intensively with files shared with clients or partners. While privacy isn’t its primary selling point, its rich collaborative features make it a go-to solution for startups in the growth phase.
3️⃣ If you are a small business or an SME:
For an established organization, the challenges surrounding cloud storage are often twofold: protecting sensitive business data on the one hand, and enabling seamless collaboration among employees on the other. Internxt excels in the first area, with certifications that meet the requirements of regulated industries, but is more limited in the second. Proton, with its comprehensive suite (Drive, Mail, VPN, Calendar, Pass) is likely the most coherent alternative for an SME seeking a turnkey European privacy suite. The recent expansion of the Proton ecosystem, notably with the addition of Proton Docs and Proton Sheets, is beginning to create a credible alternative to Google or Microsoft suites for teams that place data sovereignty at the center of their technology choices. Google Drive remains a reality for many SMEs, not for its privacy features (which are clearly inferior to Internxt or Proton), but for the breadth of its collaborative features, its integration with Google Workspace, and the seamless experience it provides in a multi-user work environment. For an SME that faces no strict regulatory constraints on its data and whose priority is day-to-day operational efficiency, Google Drive remains hard to beat in this regard. The choice between the two approaches is often a matter of values and priorities as much as it is about features.
