APIs :
Autom is a SERP API (a Google Search API) that gives developers programmatic access to structured search engine results in real time. Rather than scraping search pages manually, dealing with proxies, rotating IPs, and anti-bot detection, you send a simple POST request to Autom's endpoint and receive clean, parsed JSON data back in seconds.
The core product is the Google Search API. You send a query with optional parameters like geographic location, language, country, and the number of results per page, and the API returns a structured response covering organic results, titles, URLs, snippets, related searches, and pagination metadata. Results arrive in 1 to 2 seconds on average, with the infrastructure designed to handle high request volumes without rate-limiting.
Beyond Google, Autom supports Bing and Brave as additional search engines within the same API framework — meaning you can switch sources without changing your integration architecture. Perplexity support was in active development at time of writing. The platform also exposes utility endpoints for Google Locations, Google Languages, and Google Countries, which are useful when building location-aware applications that need to simulate searches from specific regions.
SDKs are available for Python, Node.js, PHP, .NET, Java, Go, and Rust, and the API integrates directly with no-code and automation platforms including Zapier, n8n, and Power Automate. This makes it accessible not just to backend developers but to automation builders working in visual workflow tools. The documentation is described by users as clear and well-structured, with code samples across all supported languages and a RESTful design that follows standard conventions.
Every new account receives 1,000 free requests with no credit card required, and an additional 50,000 free credits are available for users who submit a G2 review. There are no subscriptions: you purchase credit bundles that are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
Autom uses a prepaid credit model with no monthly subscriptions. Credits are purchased upfront, are valid for one year, and each search query consumes one credit. New accounts receive 1,000 free requests without requiring a credit card.

1️⃣ If you are a freelance or consultant:
For consultants doing occasional SEO research, competitive analysis, or keyword tracking without writing code, Octoparse and Octoparse AI offer a visual scraping environment that doesn't require an API integration at all. You point it at a search results page, configure extraction rules visually, and export structured data — no programming required. Parseur handles a different but adjacent use case: if search results or market intelligence arrive via email alerts (Google Alerts, for example), Parseur can parse and structure that data automatically. For consultants who need enriched contact and company data alongside SERP signals, Datagma is worth considering as a lighter, more targeted alternative to full-scale data pipelines.
2️⃣ If you are a startup:
Bright Data is the enterprise-grade option in this space. It offers residential, datacenter, and mobile proxies alongside a SERP API, with considerably richer output covering Shopping, Maps, Images, and AI Overviews. The price is substantially higher, but the data quality and breadth of supported endpoints justify it for startups building data products where completeness matters. Apify is another strong choice for startups that need more than just search results: it provides a marketplace of ready-built scraping actors for hundreds of data sources, alongside its own SERP capabilities, which makes it a more flexible platform for teams whose data needs extend beyond Google search. PhantomBuster covers a related but distinct use case which is often what startups are actually trying to do when they start looking at search data for lead generation.
3️⃣ If you are a SMB or mid-sized company:
Scrapingbee is a well-established scraping API that handles Google search alongside general web scraping, with a more mature feature set and better-documented enterprise options than Autom. For teams running multi-source intelligence workflows, combining Make or n8n with Autom as the search layer and Clay for enrichment covers a significant portion of what dedicated data platforms offer at a fraction of the cost. Apollo.io deserves mention for companies whose primary motivation is prospecting: if the goal behind querying search results is finding companies or contacts to reach, Apollo provides a curated, enriched database with built-in outreach tools, which may be a more direct route than building a custom SERP-to-leads pipeline from scratch.
